I have been receiving unsolicited telephone calls again recently (usually from call centres), which winds me up no end. Here is an example of a recent conversation I had………….
Caller: Is that Mr. ………….?
Me: Who is calling?
Caller: Don’t worry, I am not trying to sell you anything
Me: So what is it that you want?
Caller: I am ringing on behalf of…………and we are doing some market research…..
Me: That’s fine but I do charge for my professional advice services
Caller: Sorry, I don’t understand
Me: Well you want valuable information from me and I charge for that information
Caller: So you want paying……..
Me: Yes, I charge £75.00 per hour or part thereof, so there would be a minimum charge of £75.00 which I require paying up front
Caller: But we don’t pay for this kind of information
Me: Do you get paid for doing your job?
Me: Well, this is my job, supplying companies with valuable research information and I require paying for it…..
Caller:………….silence at the end of the phone and then dialing tone!!!!!!
That is how to get rid of them, alternatively, you just put the phone down immediately but I like to have a little fun from time to time.
