A quick trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park yesterday with some new and interesting (if rather odd) exhibits on display. Despite the wet weather recently and some very sodden ground underfoot it was lovely to see the snow drops in flower, the daffodils are about a week away from flowering and some of the crocus were also in bloom.

A walk down to the lake then alongside the water to see the herons nesting on “Heron Island”……….I was told by a member of the cafe staff that Kingfishers had been seen at the waterside. During my walk I saw a Blue Tit, Robin, Chaffinch and Canada geese, Moorhen and Swans.

After my walk I sat outside the cafe taking in the winter sun (it was all of 8 degrees centigrade) and drinking a very good cappuccino.

I would recommend a stroll through the extensive park to anyone who appreciated the countryside and wildlife and at the same time be able to see sculpture by world-famous artists.
