If you happen to be wandering around Uzupis and come to the little square where the “angel of Uzupis” statue resides then stand in front of it, look directly ahead and you will see a relatively new cafe and deli by the name of “Sardinija.”
I stopped off for a coffee in this little place and spent some time looking at wines and olive oils, all of Sardinian origin, and of which I knew very little. The young man serving spoke excellent English (my goodness we have a lot to learn in the UK about languages!) and we had a lengthy conversation about coffee, wine, food and oils.
I had a very good cappuccino and then the young man insisted I try the espresso, free of charge, and which, as a coffee lover gratefully accepted. I also tried a glass of Sardinian wine (very reasonably priced at one euro) and also bought some olive oil to take home with me.
The young man in the cafe was engaging, knowledgeable and his customer service could not be described as anything less than first class. So if you are in the Uzupis area do call in to rest your weary legs and sample the coffee. You will not be disappointed.
