A tow path walk along the Huddersfield narrow canal…….from Wellhouse to Slaithwaite

Yesterday was a glorious day so I decided to walk from Wellhouse to Slaithwaite along the Huddersfield narrow canal, hopefully to take  a few good photographs along the way.

En route I met holidaymakers on narrow boats, dog walkers, mothers out with very young children, a fisherman, a granddad out with his grandkids, runners and cyclists, all of whom said hello or stopped to have a chat………very convivial folk here in West Yorkshire.

The colours of the trees and wild plants alongside the canal are extremely vivid, contrasting with the “brown muddy colour” of the canal water. Walking the towpath is very relaxing as well as providing a bit of exercise for us “oldies” (the round trip walk is about four miles).

As I made my way along the canal I stopped regularly to take photographs of anything that grabbed my interest, these are just a few I took on my journey.
